Mat 5:44-45 But I tell you: Love your
enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be sons of your Father in
heaven.
We need to forgive those who treat us badly, it is a difficult to do this in our own strength, it seems a
difficult concept to understand, and we want instead to see justice done for the harm done to us. Jesus shows us a
different way of dealing with the wrong done by extending his love and forgiveness. Forgiveness is cancelling the
debt of the wrong done to us. Jesus became a sacrifice on the cross taking all the punishment we should have
suffered for our sins and he has freely cancelled the debt of all our wrong doings, we too need to be able extend
that same grace to others.

Eph 4:31 -32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling
and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each
other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
|
You may say "but you have never suffered like I have or been abused like I have", you may feel justified to feel
hate, bitterness and anger. The consequences of unforgiveness are roots of bitterness and resentment. If these are
not dealt with, they can cause arthritis, ulcers and cancer to develop in your body, unforgiveness is the main
blockage to deliverance. It will end up costing you far more than you thought, this too sounds unfair, but Satan
has never been fair. If you want to receive the free gift of forgiveness for your sins and walk in freedom, you
will need to learn to extend the same grace that Jesus did for you.

Mat 6:14-15 for if you forgive men when they sin against you, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not
forgive your sins.
|
You may say "but I can’t forgive them after all they have done to me”. If you are a child of God then God will
help you forgive, you just need to be willing to ask God to help you with it and with his love in your heart, you
will find you will at some point be able to genuinely forgive. God will work in you and change the way you think
that you will be able to forgive others. You will start to see the person who hurt you with Gods eyes, you will see
them as someone who is bound by the devil, who actually needs help for things that have happened to them in their
lives that have made them behave as they do today and you will start to feel compassion for them. You will see that
they need Jesus’ help in their lives and you will start to pray for them. That is how we come to be able to pray
for our enemies for those who do us wrong, by seeing them with the eyes of Jesus.

Col 3:12-13 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe
yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and
forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave
you. |
Jesus suffered so much so that you can live in freedom, health and prosperity of heart, body and soul.
If you know of any unforgiveness in your heart that you hold towards another person, ask God today to help you
forgive them, that may be the first step you can take to show you are willing to let God help you forgive and your
first step towards freedom. Don’t allow Satan to rob you of your health as well through bitterness, anger and
resentment. God always knows what is best for us; put your trust in him. Let God change your heart and teach you to
become more like him. God is faithful he will answer your prayers in accordance with his word.
