Matthew 12:43 -45 “When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first."

I have found that in the past I have been delivered of demons only to find that they have returned and had to be cast out again. It is hard for us as Spirit filled Christians to keep ourselves free of demonic influence if we don’t change the way we act or think, or if we have opened up the doorway for satan to enter through occult, addictions, new age, etc. How much more difficult is it be for non Christians to keep their deliverance?

We therefore need to keep our deliverance by keeping our house (temple of the Holy Spirit) filled with the things of God.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."

We need to keep our temples filled with the Holy Spirit and our minds focused on God because that will guard our hearts, minds and souls from the enemy, we will be able to recognise him when he comes to devour us.

The key here is that we need to be self controlled and alert at all times, aware of the enemy, and his wiles to deceive, steal, kill and destroy. We are in a battle while we live here on earth, a battle for our hearts, souls, spirits, physical body, finances and families.  We need to keep God focused in all we do, think and say, we cannot allow ourselves to take our eyes off God for one moment.

If it is hard for Christian then it is impossible for a non Christian to stay delivered. That is why deliverance is not offered to non Christians as they can end up in a worse state and they will be tormented by the evil spirits even more.

The first self deliverance I attempted was when I realized that listening to a certain audio program designed to bring your brain waves to the alpha (and lower) levels automatically just by listening to the CDs, was opening my mind to influences that are more than purely physical. I had felt a presence whilst listening to the tapes and realising at a later date that it was evil I wanted to get rid of that spirit there and then.

I was introduced to the CD's and was told they would help me sleep and make me more intelligent, as they work with making new nerve pathways in the brain. I fell for it, hook line and sinker! The CD's did make me sleep, so well in fact, that the kids got annoyed at how loud I snored, as I was keeping them awake at night! I didn’t improve on the intellect either but I did learn a lesson!

While listening to the CD I would sense a presence by the bed, I didn’t feel quite right about this presence but it didn’t feel really dark so I was deceived by it. After a few weeks of doing this CD and feeling this presence, I felt the presence come into my head, it was an awful experience and I was shouting out No, but too late the damage was done and it was inside me. Some time later when I realized the origin of the CD, I repented and renounced the tapes, destroyed them, then took authority in Jesus' name and commanded the spirit associated with the CD's to come out and praise God Jesus delivered me.

It is in learning to remain free of demons that we learn to walk closer with God and increase our faith and dependency on him.
